Let There Be Light!

During the Spring season the new LED lights that were recently installed at Tyler Majors Field had electrical lines run to them and were ready to light up the night, but there was just one problem... The late setting sun meant there was plenty of daylight to play the evening games. Now that Fall Ball has officially started the lights are being used by PWCGSLL for the first time and they look amazing!

Bringing lights to Tyler Majors Field was a huge endeavor for the League and the culmination of many years of fundraising and tireless lobbying to PWC Parks and Rec. Over a 10 year period, PWCGSLL raised $75,000 to contribute to the project and Prince William County funded the remaining amount to install the lights.

The lights are a testament to the passion that PWCGSLL President, Ralph Sinnott, has put into the League since being a founding member of the Board of Directors. His efforts were duly recognized by the Gainesville District Supervisor, Pete Candland, at opening day this year by presenting Ralph the Gainesville Hero Award.

Now that the lights are on we can enjoy great softball well into the night! Next time you find yourself watching a game under the lights at Tyler, please remember all the hard work and fundraising, much of it by girls that are no longer in the League and paid it forward, that was required to make such a beautiful sight!
